These collections bear witness to a known or perhaps forgotten page of our history. It is therefore essential to entrust them to the Media Library of Corsica and Corsican Culture, in order to preserve and enhance them. Lending or donating your documents helps to build a common cultural melting pot for present and future generations.

Digital technology makes knowledge exist in any part of the world, any subject, any language. Whether of digital origin or converted into this form, the documents deposited at the Media Library of Corsica and Corsican Culture are building a pool of permanent and open resources in the field of knowledge, culture and heritage. By facilitating their circulation, digital technology removes them from the old constraint of remaining a dead letter at the bottom of a dusty shelf.

The benefits of backing up your documents digitally

Your private heritage documents are in good hands. From the moment they are borrowed to the moment they are returned, the Media Library of Corsica and the Corsican Culture promotes a legal and technical environment in order to guarantee the best use of the material, and to provide you with a digital copy where it will be classified and saved. Thus we ensure a number of steps in our approach:

• A loan agreement attesting to the transfer of your documents to our digitisation room, accompanied by the keeping of a loan register signed by both parties whenever a document removal takes place. Transporting the documents at our own expense. The document shall be insured and placed in special packaging.
• Filing, indexing and cataloguing your documents according to the usual digitisation standards in our premises, in a dedicated and adapted space.
• Building a database to organise and access your collection efficiently.
• Using an efficient and fast search engine, at your service, which will allow you to find a document quickly if necessary.
• Returning your documents, or storing them if you wish to place them in our document consultation room, in the exact state in which you entrusted them to us. They will not have been altered in any way during handling.
• Organising, if necessary, of a scientific valorisation event for feedback to the island's civil society.
